The Sidebar Weather & Alert System is a powerful content delivery system. With a single download, Sidebar installs two powerful technologies.
Sidebar Weather:
Using a browser based "picture-in-picture" technology, Sidebar puts a TV station's branded content in its audience's browser no matter what website they're on.
- Sidebar Weather installs a branded Weather button in the user's Internet Explorer browser that opens a sideband browser window that delivers a station's branded content to the user no matter what website they are on.
- Sidebar Weather displays the station's branded content, harvested from the station's website.
- When a link is clicked in the Sidebar Weather window, the user is sent to the station website for more. Sidebar Weather contains the station's logo, colors, and content.
Sidebar Alert System:
Sidebar Alert is a propriety software module that is automatically downloaded and installed as part of the Sidebar Weather installation process. Sidebar Alert installs in the Windows OS task bar tray and features:
- Automated alerts from the National Weather Service.
- Manually issued news, weather, sports, civil and Amber alerts.
- TV station's branding and design.
- Polls at regular intervals for new alerts.
